Kefalonia Wine Hub 2023: New Technologies in the Vineyard

For the second consecutive year, the initiative “Kefalonia Wine Hub” was held, organized by the Kefalonia Winemakers Association and Antheia Kotsi.

This year’s theme, “New Technologies in the Vineyard,” was explored through presentations by invited speakers Stefanos Koundouras, Professor at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, agronomist and oenologist; Stamatis Diavatidis and Giorgos Fevgas, co-founders of FarmAir, a company specializing in innovative drone technologies; and Aris Tselepos, oenologist at Tselepos Estate.

The speakers presented pioneering techniques and discussed their practical applications. Following the presentations, they engaged in discussion with Kefalonia’s winemakers, oenologists, and agronomists.

The Kefalonia Wine Hub initiative aspires to become a hub for reflection and discussion on the most important issues facing wine and winemakers. The event is intended to take place annually, with the goal of placing Kefalonia on the global map of wine tourism destinations while also playing an important role in highlighting the issues that matter to the island’s wine industry.

As part of the Hub, the guests toured Kefalonia’s vineyards and wineries. To gain a more holistic understanding of the island’s gastronomic heritage, they also visited the Galiatsatos cheese-making facility, while the program included meals featuring traditional Kefalonian dishes.
